Bedfordshire is full of delightful and charming places to visit, but if you’re someone who wants to get off the beaten track and explore some of the region’s hidden gems, you’ll want to take notice of this list.

Up first, Mowsbury Park.
Mowsbury Park in the Bedford area is a huge expanse of park space perfect for walks, ball games and plenty of room to run around with the kids, the dogs or just for fun! The park is also home to Putnoe Woods where there are loads of wildlife to scout out and for the kids, you’ll find a sandpit. One of the greatest things about this public space is that it makes for a great day, completely free day out.

Rowney Warren
If you like the sound of visiting a wood, Rowney Warren woods are much larger than those at Putnoe and has loads of dens for playing hide and seek and exploring. This wood in the village of Sandy is a wonderful hidden gem. There is loads of parking on site and there is a café as well as plenty of spots for picnics, so do take some time in the autumn as the leaves start changing colour to visit.

Priory Marina

This area of Priory Country Park which is just two miles from the centre of Bedford and is ideal for those of you wanting to get out and about in the countryside. There is a lake to walk around and you can sit and while away the hours watching the boats come in and out. Budding photographers will love the layout of this beautiful area of Priory Country Park, so whether you’re an amateur or a pro, make sure to bring your camera along and grab a few snaps. If you do, make sure to post them to Instagram and tag us!

It's a great place for capturing the region's furry friends!

Moggerhanger Park
Ok, you got us, this isn’t much of a hidden gem, it’s a fairly obvious one. Moggerhanger Park has a Grade 1 listed Georgian house, parkland and woodlands all of which are free to attend. There is something for the whole family, including a children’s play area. The summer holidays may be over, but October half term will be here before you know it, so this is an ideal one to keep on your radar.
