It is easy to get around Bedfordshire using the public transport, with many bus services operating around the county and connecting you to all the main attractions, as well as railways and the airport.
A range of bus operators connect across the county including the new guided busway from Dunstable into the centre of Luton for connections to the rail network. For up to date information on services available and bus times make sure to check Traveline.
There are a number of bus operators serving Bedfordshire, including A2B Bus, Arriva, Centrebus, Fittabus, Grant Palmer, Ivel Sprinter, JD Travel, Marshall’s Coaches, Red Eagle, Red Line, Road Runner, Red Rose, Stagecoach East, Star Travel, Uno, Wanderbus and Z and S Transport. There are also shuttle bus services between Luton Airport Parkway and the airport terminal.
The Luton-Dunstable Busway allows Luton to be reached from Houghton Regis and Dunstable in less than 30 minutes, quickly and easily connecting you to the airport and fast trains into London from Central Bedfordshire. The main part of this network is the specially constructed roadway between Houghton Regis, Dunstable and Luton town centres, before joining the road and continuing onto London Luton Airport with stops near Luton Airport Parkway Station.
For bus travel towards London Luton Airport, buses operated by Arriva and Route A of the Luton to Dunstable Busway service this network, as well as there being a number of other services connecting the airport with towns and cities in the county as well as into North London.

If you are of state pension age, you are eligible for an older person’s bus pass, if you have an older person’s pass, you will be able to board a bus in Bedfordshire and travel free as far as that bus goes, however please check that you are travelling after 9.30am. Most long distance coaches are excluded, but some coach operators to have a concessionary half-fare scheme for passengers with a valid bus pass. Those claiming PIP or other disability benefits can also travel for free or at a discounted rate with a disabled person’s bus pass. Many of the services also offer a companion pass.
If your pass is issued by Central Bedfordshire Council you will also be able to travel by rail on certain services for half the price of a normal adult fare. Please check before you travel for more details if your pass is issued by your home council to see what concessions are available for you.
