Spirited lionesses Waka and Winta were amongst the many youngsters sinking their teeth into Halloween at Whipsnade Zoo today (Monday 30 October) as zookeepers treated animals across the zoo to a spook-tacular surprise.  

Jess Glynne and Nile Rodgers are the latest acts to headline Bedford’s Summer Sessions, which will take place next summer at Bedford Park.

Two baby yaks named Tonks and Cedric have been captured on camera jumping for joy and bucking around the Dunstable Downs at Whipsnade Zoo - the magical new arrivals were given the monikers by zookeepers following their tradition of naming the yak family after characters from the beloved Harry Potter books. 

As the nights draw in and the great outdoors transforms into a kaleidoscope of autumnal colour, the National Trust has a whole host of events and activities planned to keep your little explorers entertained. From ghoulish tricks to nature’s treats, get ready to enjoy heaps of family fun this October half term.

A pair of rare red panda cubs at Whipsnade Zoo have been given their first vet check, as the internationally important twins start to leave their nest box and explore their surroundings for the first time.  

Home to some incredible views, Bedfordshire is full of fantastic nature reserves and woodlands to explore, and Autumn is the perfect time to enjoy it. Enjoy the changing of the seasons with a leisurely stroll or group hike through some of these locations and take in the golden colours of the trees while enjoying the outdoors this month.
