Love is in the air at Woburn Safari Park, after Beatrix Otter, a six year old Asian short clawed otter moved to Woburn last month and found a love match with their existing otter, Kovu.

Beatrix moved to Woburn from Yorkshire as part of a European breeding programme. It helps to ensure a viable and sustainable captive population. Asian short clawed otters are listed as vulnerable and are at high risk of extinction. Since her arrival, she and Kovu have spent most of their time together and can often be spotted snuggling up to sleep in the sun. Watch this space – there could be new otter pups in the future.

Other news from Woburn includes the chance to see the four North American bear cubs who were born last year. They have now moved into the main reserve for the first time and are a stop on the drive through safari. Look out for them, their mum and the other black bears while travelling around the park.

If you’re planning your trip to Woburn over the half term break, Spongebob Squarepants is making his park debut on Saturday, 27th May! Go on an incredible safari adventure and then head to the Safari Hangout where he’ll be visiting at intervals throughout the day and you can meet him at no extra cost!
