A new community arts project in Luton’s Bury Park has been awarded funding from Arts Council England. Museum of Stories: Bury Park, will be a digital audio walk made in partnership with the community.

Museum of Stories: Bury Park is the brainchild of Applied Stories, a local production company run by award-winning playwright, Fin Kennedy. The company has previously worked with the National Archives and the British Museum and will be working with Luton’s Shemiza Rashid on this project. Together, they will create original content for the Bury Park walk, which will be accessed via an app as part of the Heritage Open Days programme for Luton in September.

Conceived as an audio art gallery, audiences will walk down Dunstable Road using a geolocation app, in which audio stories appear as pins on the map. Each story, which will last around 5 minutes, will feature members of the community telling personal stories. The team are currently collecting the stories of local people around the community, with details on their website for how to submit your own memories.

A launch event where you can learn more about the project and meet the team behind Museum of Stories will be taking place on 26th March at Alexandra Opticians. Book your space and find out more here.
