Heritage Open Days are back for 2022, with a host of free activities and events taking place across the county between 9th and 18th September.

To help you narrow down which events you can attend, here are a selection of the Heritage Open Days taking place across Bedfordshire.

Foster Hill Road Cemetery
The Gatehouse, Foster Hill Road, Bedford
10th and 11th September, there will be burial records and guided walks available.

Event will be accessible for wheelchairs and pushchairs, dogs are also permitted. Find out more.

Biggleswade Inventions and Inventors
Trinity Methodist Church, Shortmead Street, Biggleswade
An exhibition of inventions from the area, including the tractors etc from Dan Albone.
10th September 11.30-15.30pm. Find out more.

Shuttleworth
Biggleswade
Shuttleworth House, the Swiss Garden and the Shuttleworth Collection will all be open to explore.
15th September 10-5
Dogs will be allowed on leads but not inside the collection hangars, the house or the Swiss Garden. Find out more

All Saints Church
All Saints Parish Church, High Street, Houghton Regis, Dunstable
Tours of the church and tower From 9th – 18th September, various times. Booking only required for the Friday. Find out more. 

Ailesbury Mausoleum and Crypt
Church Road, Maulden
11th September 3-5pm
A chance to see one of the first mausolea to be built in the country, parts were built by a descendant of Robert the Bruce, a former king of Scotland.
Event open to everyone but the crypt steps are not suitable for wheelchair users. Find out more here. 

Ridgmont Station Heritage Centre
Ridgmont Station Heritage Centre, Station Road, Ridgmont
Chance to learn more about the Marston Vale Railway Line and to celebrate the lines 175th anniversary. First railway line to reach Bedford – tours and an exhibition, plus family friendly activities. 9th – 18th September. Find out more. 

Stotfold Watermill and Nature Reserve
Mill Lane, Stotfold
Fully restored and operational watermill, disabled access throughout with additional exhibits and a chance to explore. 11th and 18th September. Find out more.
