If you happen to be in the Bedfordshire between 18th and 26th June then you really have to take advantage of the region’s best picnic spots. The purpose of the week is to encourage people to get outside and enjoy their local area all while enjoying the summer pastime of having a picnic.

Here are some of our favourite spots in the county to pull up a blanket and enjoy some al fresco dining.

Harrold-Odell Country Park
This 59 hectacre park can be found between the village of Harrold and Odell and features lots of wide open space, perfect for those that want to spread out and enjoy a bit of privacy while also getting outside on a warm day.

Wardown Park
Located in Luton, this is one of the prettiest of the county’s parks. You can take a little stroll along the River Lea where you can watch the ducks and swans, plus the site has gardens too that you can explore, either before or after you’ve eaten.

Bedford Park
As one of the most popular places to visit in Bedford, this one can get a bit busy, but it is worth going. You can find lots of lovely, secluded places where you can hide away for a romantic lunchtime date or just seek out some shade.

Dunstable Downs
If you want lunch with a view, this is a great place to stop for a picnic. Not content with being pretty, the downs also offer incredible walks and lots of wildlife to enjoy – you can often spot birds and butterflies during the summer months.

Forest of Marston Vale
Full of trails and walks, this is a great place for the whole family and with plenty of beautiful spots to take a seat and enjoy your surroundings.
