The Bedford River Festival is one of the biggest outdoor events to take place in the town and it is returning this July. The event is a special celebration that takes place along the river and embankment and highlights the culture and history of Bedford with a series of fun, family friendly.

With around a quarter of a million people expected to descent on the town for the festival over the 18th and 19th July, it really is the place to be this summer! The hugely popular event will include all your usual favourites as well as groups, clubs and companies coming together to take part in races along the river and a load of other fun events. This year’s festival will include dragon boat and raft racing, river parades, water sports, music, entertainment, stalls, hovercraft rides, fireworks and more.

Speaking about the event, Town Mayor, Dave Hodgson, said: “It is always great to have a River Festival to look forward to and as always, it is expected to be a spectacular weekend for the town. We know that people come back again and again to the River Festival so we work to keep the old favourites as well as looking to bring new things for visitors to see and do. There will be more announcements as the date draws closer, so keep an eye out for updates.”

Is the River Festival already in your diaries? If not it should be! Do you have any memories of previous events? You can let us know on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram!
