Born on the 11th October, the two African Crested Porcupines have since had their health checks and after discovering they are both baby boys, have been named after African musical instruments - Djembe and Marimba. A djembe is a hand drum and a marimba is a percussion instrument.

Djembe and Marimba are the second set of porcupettes to be born at Woburn Safari Park in 2019 following another two males, Piglet and Pooh, that were born in May to resident porcupines, Noku and Chewy. The happy family are settled and wowing visitors to the park and are now a party of six!

Porcupines are social animals, living in small family groups of an adult pair and their offspring. The adult pair is monogamous, and mate for life - make sure to look out for them during your next visit to Woburn!
