Train enthusiasts and those looking for a taste of nostalgia this weekend will want to head to Bedford Station on 29th June to catch sight of the Flying Scotsman. This historic locomotive is making the journey to Yorkshire and will be stopping at Luton and Bedford as part of its route on the Midland Main Line.

Originally built in Doncaster for the London and North Eastern Railway in the 1920s, the Flying Scotsman is one of the most famous and popular steam trains in the country with thousands travelling to see it on its year of journeys around the UK.

On Saturday 29th June, the steam engine will travel on the Midland Line, stopping off at both Luton and Bedford Stations before heading on to Yorkshire. Those who are going to see the train have been urged to do so safely after a recent spate of dangerous behaviour on previous trips of the famous train. Photographs have surfaced of crowds congregating on the tracks and standing in the path of oncoming trains in a bid to get the best photos. Network Rail and the British Transport Police have reminded anyone planning to visit the Flying Scotsman to stay safe and keep off the tracks during the train’s planned stop.

There will be extra members of staff on hand during the visit for anyone who needs assistance. The approximate timings are available online, with the train expected to arrive at Luton at 08:17 on its outward journey and 08:48 at Bedford. On its return journey, it will be at Bedford at 21:10 and at Luton at 21:39.
