Did you know that every June the UK celebrates National Picnic Week? Well, what better way to indulge in a terrific British past time than by spreading a blanket, opening a hamper and enjoying the great outdoors in Bedfordshire?

This year’s event takes place from 21st until 30th June, so you have plenty of time to find the spot that best suits you, but for now, here are our top picks of picnic spots that can be found in the county.

Bedford Park
Bedford Park is one of only three that has a Green Flag award marking it as one of the best parks to visit! For the romantically minded, there are lots of secluded places for you to spend a few hours enjoying a picnic or if you’re taking the whole family, find a spot in the wide open space and enjoy the fresh air.

Wardown Park
This park in Luton is really quite beautiful, take a stroll along the banks of the River Lea among the willow trees and relax while watching the ducks and swans glide around. You can also visit the park’s designed gardens and explore the otherside of the river too and make it a whole day out.

Forest of Marston Vale
This is a great place to lose yourself for a couple of hours, the wildlife spotting opportunities are enough to mark this out as a great place to visit, but for those that like to dine alfresco, there are plenty of beautiful spots to relax in.

Harrold-Odell Country Park
Stretching over 59 hectares between the villages of Odell and Harrold, this beautiful park has lots of wide open space for you to explore and plenty of space to sit and relax with your picnic.

Dunstable Downs
The Dunstable Downs are a truly breath taking part of Bedfordshire and offers spectacular views, incredible walking trails and lots of wildlife for you to look out for.
