Photography Night Shoot

About

The Shuttleworth Collection is really pleased to once again be hosting a photography night shoot in 2019. This hugely popular event will be on October 12th and is a great opportunity to get images of select aircraft and vehicles with atmospheric lighting.

The event will start at 5pm, giving visitors a chance to capture images in the lovely 'blue hour' when day turns to night. Three aircraft will be set up on the idyllic grass airfield with flood lighting illuminating them in both static poses with re-enactors and with engines running later in the evening. The Hawker Sea Hurricane will be making its night shoot debut alongside the DH-88 Comet, which has proved popular in previous years. If the weather allows, the wonderful Avro 504 will perform an engine run, or if it's too windy, then we'll roll out the recently restored Parnel Elf instead. In addition to the aircraft, some of The Collection's wonderful vehicles will be displayed alongside the aircraft and our beautiful buses will add something rather special to the night. We'll also be having a few re-enactors working alongside the aircraft and vehicles to add an extra special element. This year, we plan some more interesting lighting for the event, both on the airfield and in the hangars that will be open to those attending.

This event is open to anyone with a camera, but it is recommended that you have a basic understanding of night photography in order to make the most of the event. The use of flash will not be permitted during the engine run part of the evening and it is recommended that you use a tripod if you have one. A great deal of thought is put into the layout of our event to ensure that all those attending have a chance to get a good view and capture great images. Our official collection photographers will be on hand to offer advice if needed and there will be a welcome talk from our Shuttleworth team.

The entry price includes a drink and a hot meal of pasty & chips with a time set aside for you to enjoy this hospitality during the event. We aim to conclude the engine runs by 8.30 so that you can be on your way home at a practical time.
