The historic Capability Brown designed Ampthill Park in Bedfordshire offers a range of habitats to learn how to forage for edible plants and mushrooms growing all around us in the UK in summertime. This foraging course is easy to reach from Bedford, Luton, Milton Keynes, Northampton and Dunstable.
At this intriguing venue, where Katherine of Aragon was once held under house arrest, you'll discover how to identify some commonly growing foods to forage for, how to avoid poisonous lookalikes, and hints on where to look.
When we meet up, we will go through the basics of foraging before heading out over the park's range of habitats, including woodland and parkland.
During the walk, I will introduce you to a number of edible species, giving you tips on harvesting, correct identification, and recipe ideas. You'll also get to sample a range of wild food treats, such as pickles, jams, infusions, syrups, herb salts, ferments, cordials, jellies, ketchups and chutneys.
