The conference is taking place at the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Buckhorne Avenue, Stevenage as it has superb conference facilities and parking. Refreshments will be available and the event is free of charge and open to members of the public. The UN theme is 'Break the Bias' with the popluar theme being #embraceequity. We are going to embrace the achievements of local women and there will be 8 speakers presenting for approx 10 - 15 minutes each with time for Questions and answers. Speakers include a Police superintendent, the CEO of a drug rehabilitation unit, the Strategic Manager from Home-Start Stevenage, an Afghan refugee talking about girls'education, a manager in the field of sexual health and a participant presenting the findings on a recent report into domestic abuse. There will be space available to display information and we hope to see students from the nearby college in attendance. Donations of toiletries for refugees and local families/individuals in need will be most welcome.
