Be amazed by the historic country mansions and beautiful countryside or seek the thrills of one of the many family fun days at the county’s amazing attractions, found open throughout the year.
You’ll find everything from the traditional to the new and exciting and being such a diverse cultural region, you’ll get to experience a whole range of interesting and diverse events and activities with links all around the county. Having so much history and heritage, you might expect there to be plenty of unusual, traditional events and you’re not wrong! While you would be right in thinking that there are a range of annual events, like firework displays, Christmas themed activities, Pride and more, there are also a number of events that are totally unique to Bedfordshire, like Bedford’s annual River Festival and the hotly anticipated Luton Carnival, the largest one-day carnival in the UK, the next largest carnival event is the famous Nottinghill Carnival in London. Every year you’ll find the nation’s National Trust properties take part in the annual Cadbury Easter Egg hunt, plus other fun events at some of the top attractions in the region.
There are also a range of family friendly activities that aren’t to be missed, as well as events that are free to attend for anyone who is on a budget. Be sure to keep an eye on our events pages during school holidays to see what extra events and activities are being hosted to keep the little ones entertained.
So, whether you are looking to enjoy a food or real ale festival, or a musical event, play a round of golf or luxuriate in a spa, the choice of quality activities, attractions and hotels in Bedfordshire is truly yours to explore. The people of Bedfordshire are a friendly bunch and love visitors to come and join them at both the large national events and the smaller ones, like village fetes, farmers’ markets and town celebrations. Just save your favourite events and then browse some of the great places to stay in the county!
With fantastic road and rail connections, Bedfordshire is easily accessible from all over the county and is well under an hours travel from London, so you can be sure of a fun day out in the countryside.
