A tribute to the river Great Ouse featuring: illustration, sculpture, music, poetry, painting and photography by commissioned artists and students from local schools.
The Bedford River Project is a multi-disciplinary arts project, collaborating with diverse communities in Bedford to celebrate the river Great Ouse. As a black-led project, we are proud to be champions of our natural heritage and conservation. We hope to inspire people from all communities, to engage with the rewards and combating the challenges of our natural surroundings.
Artists, mostly from the local community, both emerging and established, have been commissioned to create work inspired by the river and run creative workshops with schools and community groups. Stories about the river are integral to the work of the artists.
Our natural heritage is a monument in time, that, touches all cultures. It belongs to all of us and is the responsibility of us all.
