Art in Stitch is an exhibition of art works in textiles, by accomplished textile artists, Rachel Wright and Barbara Shaw, hosted by The Courtyard Art Studio.
Barbara Shaw uses fabric like paint, producing hand stitched, collaged pieces. Barbara is a Licentiate Member of the Society of Designer Craftsmen and a member of Oxfordshire Craft Guild. From a distance, her hand stitched textile collages look like paintings but up close all the textures, threads and detail can be seen. Her subjects range from portraits and architecture to still life and wildlife.
Rachel Wright uses machine embroidery to create intricate, uniquely distinctive and colourful pieces, often inspired by the natural environment. Rachel has a BA and MA in fashion and textiles from Birmingham City University and is a member of the Buckinghamshire Craft Guild.
The exhibition will run from Saturday 24 August, across the bank holiday weekend, through to Sunday 1 September, 11am - 5pm, (closed Thursday 29 and Friday 30 August).

The Courtyard Art Studio can be found at Claydon Estate which is adjacent to and also sign posted as the National Trust's Claydon House. Free entry to the exhibition, free parking, wheelchair friendly and The Phoenix Kitchen on site make this the perfect location for a day out.
