About
We're bringing the history of food to life in the stunning surroundings of Wrest Park with a range of tastings, demonstrations and culinary treats.
Join us for lively, expert-led talks and demonstrations covering everything from Roman diets through to Georgian ice-cream as we shine a light on the role food played in society throughout the centuries. Join food historian Annie Gray as she explores what we can learn about Queen Victoria from what she ate, listen to a talk on historic cooking from Great British Bake Off finalist Mary-Anne Boermans and discover the role food played in women's activism in the 20th century.
As well as the demonstrations there will be the opportunity to taste Georgian ice-cream, a favourite dish of the Victorians and Tudor delicacies. You can also find out how birds of prey would have been used to help bring food to the table in impressive falconry displays and join our garden team foraging for funghi.
Don't miss our historic traders for demonstrations and the chance to sample delicious foods from days gone by. Explore the role of herbs in medicine and sample historic hot chocolate, then browse and shop for historical kitchenware and produce.
We're bringing things up to date with a range of delectable delicacies from local artisan producers providing craft beers, European delis and sweet treats. And we're shining the spotlight on modern food packaging with family-friendly musical workshops using instruments made out of recycled kitchenware.
So step into our culinary history and enjoy a unique day out at this food fair with a difference.
