Harpers are a family owned business operating since 1958 originally at Bell Farm in Studham and since 2014 at the sign of the Half Moon Inn in the village of Pepperstock.  As an established countryside retailer the company has a reputation for offering superb quality English beef, pork, lamb and game that is prepared to a very high standard in line with the requirements of a discerning customer.  It is still being maintained today an example is available in the shop seven days a week.  The Company’s reputation for home-made ranges of pies, ready meals, quiches and sausages can be seen fresh or frozen.  The company’s Executive Sausage Rolls which the company launched 10 years ago is appreciated throughout the Home Counties and is available every day in the shop.  Delivery has always been available and still is and again covers the same area.  Customer orders are delivered either fresh or frozen as they request.

Visitors notice on arriving at the fine food shop  in Pepperstock are first aware of the very large, safe and free car park with outside tables for entertaining all in nice surroundings and close to the front of the shop.  The shop itself draws you into the building for a large choice of coffees and teas together with mouth-watering patisserie cakes and lunchtime meals.  We have adequate chairs and tables where customers can enjoy their meal and relax and enjoy the experience of shopping.  The adjoining Oak Lounge provides additional seating and specifically allow for parties, celebrations and family wakes.  The shop itself is based on providing an enjoyment of good food, good wine and good company and the choices available for selection reflect this.  Many of the product on display will not be seen anywhere else but have been enjoyed by our customers for several years.  In 1980 we developed our own Fine Food and Wine Society as a way of recognising and rewarding our committed customers.  If you would like to know more about joining the Fine Food and Wine Society and the benefits you would receive please come and visit and we will be happy to explain.  One benefit is our annual Summer Garden Party where Members have the opportunity to meet the Harpers Team and = discuss how we might be of service to our members in the future.

The Company is very proud of its staff and many have been with the Company for over 20 years.  The current team is led by the Operations Director Jane Boyle who is supported by Alice Rees in charge of finance.  They lead a committed team who work together to provide the Harper standards for which the Company have been known for many years. The welcome customers receive when they enter the shop and the care taken, by the shop staff, to ensure that all the areas and cabinets are ready for your selection is matched only by the competence of the coffee shop team and those skilled in the meat production area that normally work behind the scenes but can be seen preparing the fresh meat during the week. They all work together to support the image that is now known nationally as Harpers.
