The Duchess’ Tea Room is set within the grounds of Woburn Abbey and offers a fine selection of teas, coffees, cakes and biscuits all freshly prepared. Alongside this there is a range of light lunches and snacks; all of which can be enjoyed inside, outside or in the gardens.
A wide selection of loose leaf premium Suki pots of tea and infusions are available to choose from as well as coffees and other hot drinks. Choose from Woburn Abbey’s own Fairtrade Woburn Blend, a Fairtrade Earl Grey Blue Flower or the more exotic Mango Tango and White Tea Mao Feng. All our coffees are made with Fairtrade coffee beans, freshly ground and brewed.
If you have any specific dietary requirements or allergies, please do speak to a member of staff within the tea room or contact us prior to your visit.
Afternoon Tea at Woburn
The English social custom of taking Afternoon Tea was popularised in the 1840s by Duchess Anna Maria, wife of the 7th Duke of Bedford, who entertained her friends at Woburn Abbey. The Duchess is credited with popularising the custom of afternoon tea in the court of Queen Victoria. The Duchess and her friends would have enjoyed afternoon tea in the comfortable surroundings of the Abbey.
During your visit to Woburn Abbey and Gardens, why not enjoy Afternoon Tea with your friends and family at The Bedford Room?
Served from 2.00pm to 4.00pm in the summer season, when the gardens are open. Afternoon Tea is served in The Bedford Room, which is located in the Grounds of the Abbey.
Our Afternoon tea is very popular with limited availability each day, we ask visitors to please pre-book to avoid disappointment.
