Specialities
Did you know that Bedfordshire is the birth place of afternoon tea? Well now you do! So, what could be better than stopping off at one of the region’s tea rooms or cafes for a spot of afternoon tea with your friends?
Bedfordshire is also famous for one delicacy in particular, the Bedfordshire Clanger.
If you’ve never had a Bedfordshire Clanger before, then you have to try one before heading home from your trip. These pasty-like snacks are sausage roll like in appearance but made out of suet rather than pastry, one half is savoury and the other sweet. Historically the clanger was made for men to take to work with them when they were out in the fields, and they still work well as a midday meal, being both a dinner and a desert in one.
