Once an 18th century coaching inn, The White Hart in Ampthill is situated in the north of the Georgian market town. This historic Grade II listed building, which may date back as far as the 16th Century, continues to be a prominent destination in Ampthill. Features include a wall mural above the bar’s fireplace of the Prince of Wales feathers, created by local artists in 1646, whilst our stylish 1930s dining room was built towards the end of the arts and crafts era.
Our Mediterranean-inspired menu is served daily from 8am, and guests can choose from a variety of dishes all freshly prepared in our open kitchen. The provenance and quality of our ingredients is paramount, and our produce is ethically sourced and traceable from field to fork.
From our British meat to our free-range eggs and local beers, care is taken to ensure whether you choose our dry aged ribeye cooked over charcoal in our Josper oven, or local ale battered cod and chips, your dining experience is memorable.
For families, we offer a bespoke children’s menu with accompanying activity pack, and most dietary requirements are met with ease.
Our comfortable bar area serves an extensive and varied drinks menu, while our private function space can suit any requirements from birthday celebrations to a corporate lunch.
Outside, enjoy a drink in the courtyard at The White Hart. For when the weather is a little unpredictable, we have a canopy covering providing some additional shelter.
Guests are welcome to extend their visit by staying in one of our eight boutique-style bedrooms, which bring together the character of the coaching inn with the comforts of a modern hotel.
Set in the heart of the Bedfordshire town of Ampthill, The White Hart is the perfect location for exploring the town and wider areas. Just 10-minute walks from our front door, discover Ampthill Great Park and climb up to the Greensand Ridge to take in some spectacular views of area. If you fancy stretching the legs, follow the Greensand Ridge and enjoy a 7-mile circular walk from Ampthill to Maulden.
Take a walk on the wild side at Woburn Safari Park, which is just a 10-minute drive away, or if you have a head for heights, take on adventure up in the trees at Go Ape. Located on the Woburn estate, a beautiful parkland filled with deer, take a tour of the house in the grounds of Woburn Abbey and discover the landscaped gardens. For a little bit of History, Bletchley Park, home of the famous World War II codebreakers is only 25 minutes away by car.
