Sports in Bedfordshire
Sport in Bedfordshire has never been stronger from Elite athletes to grassroots sport played throughout the county! There is a whole range of sports and activities taking place where you can play or learn new sports, as well as spectate at various venues. London 2012 saw many athletes from Bedfordshire compete in the most celebrated event in the world. Most notably Bedford’s Etienne Stott who claimed Team GB’s third Gold medal at the Olympic Games in the C2 Canoe Slalom, as well as Stotfold’s Victoria Pendleton who took gold in the Women’s Keirin event at the London Velopark. Luton is now home to world class diving facilities at the new £26 million Inspire: Luton Sports Village, which hosts ITV’s Splash! celebrity diving competition, and is nurturing Britain’s next Tom Daley.
The Bedfordshire countryside offers many activities and sports including top of the range golf courses, outdoor activity centres including Box End Park water sports and activity centre where you can try wakeboarding and water skiing, along with many other activities.
