Wyboston Lakes pulls together for the Burned Children’s Club
Wearing harnesses with ropes attached to the fire engine, the group from Wyboston Lakes will be one of five local teams who will take it in turns to drag the 12 tonne vehicle across a four mile route around the streets of St Neots. The parade will depart at 2.00 pm from Wyboston Lakes’ Robinson Executive Conference Centre and finish at the Cambridgeshire Hunter public house in Berkley Street.
Spectators will be able to line up along the route, or gather at the finishing line at the Cambridgeshire Hunter, where a mini bazaar will be in full swing once the pull is complete. Activities at the bazaar include a bouncy castle, climbing wall, face painting, BBQ, raffle and auction.
The money raised from the event will be donated to the Burned Children’s Club, a charitable organisation dedicated to supporting young burns survivors. The proceeds will go towards funding a recreational Burn Camp – an activity holiday for children aged 8 to 18 from all around the world, providing an opportunity for young people to take on new challenges and enjoy themselves in the company of other burns survivors.
Barry Stonham, Operations Director from Wyboston Lakes said: “A mixed group of staff will be pulling the fire engine, senior and junior, young and old (in my case – ancient!). We are strong supporters of this very deserving charity and hope to see lots of supporters throwing money in our buckets.”
