Wyboston Lakes breathes new life into golf
Whilst many golf courses in the country have sadly recently been put up for sale, and may others struggling to survive, Wyboston Lakes has seen new improvements as part of a sustained investment programme.
Players will arrive at the 17th hole to see the penultimate tee transformed in a £15k revamp, now making it the largest tee in the region and adding additional length to the 17th hole. In addition, £10k has been spent on planting new trees around the course, adding to the rural tranquillity which characterises the location on the Cambridgeshire/Bedfordshire border. Golfers driving to Wyboston Lakes need not worry about parking, as £110k worth of investment has created a car park with 120 new spaces.
These latest advancements come after a series of recent modifications, including new tee boxes on the 1st, 4th and 10th holes and refreshing the landscaping along the 18th hole.
Dave Little, leisure services manager at Wyboston Lakes, said: “We are always looking at ways to improve what is already a top quality golf course. These new investments will heighten the challenge and enjoyment for our golfers, while making Wyboston Lakes an even more attractive option for players of all abilities.”
Aside from the constantly evolving course, golfing facilities at Wyboston Lakes include a floodlit driving range, short game area, computerised indoor academy and golf clinic. In addition, onsite PGA professionals provide golf lessons and expert advice. Wyboston Lakes is particularly noted for Golf Professional, Paul Ashwell. Paul is ranked by Golf Monthly magazine as the No 2 top coach in the UK and is also the lead coach for England’s Under 18 squad.
The golf course is complemented by an onsite AA 3* hotel offering golfing breaks in comfortable ensuite accommodation, together with superb food prepared by award-winning chefs. The site also enjoys a wide range of onsite leisure facilities including a health and leisure centre with an indoor swimming pool, sauna and a watersports centre.
