Prairie Dogs arrive at Wild Britain

All so cute! This summer meet the new Prairie Dog family at Wild Britain. With dad Tom, mum Lucy and their four little ones, sons Alan and Steve (named after the BBC television sketch ‘A Walk on the Wild Side’) and their sisters Suzy and Rosie, this loving family of six is ready to meet the visitors at Wild Britain.

Greeting each other by kissing, Prairie Dogs are extremely social and the new residents at Wild Britain are no exception. Prairie Dogs originate from the grasslands of North America and arrived in Europe nearly 200 years ago to be kept in captivity. Currently they live in zoos and wildlife centres all over the world.

Wild Britain (formerly Bedford Butterfly Park) has hours more adventure and fun for those on a day out. Children can crawl and scramble through Moley’s Mine (new for 2010), earn their Safari Spotter Badge in the Tropical Butterfly Jungle, build dens on the Hedgehog Play Trail, get ‘hands-on’ with creepy crawlies in the ‘Meet the Keeper’ sessions and say hello to plenty of Wild Britain’s other animal residents.

Wild Britain is located just outside Bedford in Wilden (MK44 2PX). Visitors should call 01234 772770 or visit www.wild-britain.co.uk.
